“The Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness. You have to catch it yourself.” Benjamin Franklin
Never trust your happiness to anyone else. Share it with someone, enjoy it with someone, but don’t rely on someone else to make you happy. I have worked with a lot of people that believe that others will, or should, make them happy. The fact is that the divorce rate in this country is still over 50%, so being married is nice but it is not a guarantee of happiness. Be happy with yourself, trust you gut when you feel that something is wrong, and have open communication with the people that you love. Tell them when you are struggling and allow them to help you, and help them in return when they need help. With support, you can pursue your own happiness. But don’t expect others to make you happy.
Also remember happiness isn’t about how much stuff you have, or how much money you have. People who have nothing can be happy, and people who have everything are not necessarily happy. Again, be happy with yourself, and the rest will come.
