Spring is around the corner, and the garden festival at EPCOT is finally in full bloom. The festival opened on February 28th, and this first weekend of the festival was bustling with people and topiaries. I love all the flowers and gardens, and I especially like that I can enjoy it, but I don’t have to take care of it. Parking was crazy, but we managed to get on the tram just before it pulled away for the front gate. I get frustrated at times when entering the park because of the security, but then I remember why they are there, and feel safer knowing that they are checking to try to make sure that the day is safe, and the only thing to worry about is what kind if treat I might get.
When you enter the park, Mickey and friends welcome you, along with flowers and other beautiful things. The farther you get into the park, the more there is to see. There is food, and flowers, music ( Garden Rocks concert series) and people (lots of people) but as I listen to people around me, everyone is happy with the displays. I can’t imagine how long it takes to put some of the topiaries together. I love flowers, but it’s hard to keep them alive, let alone build such beautiful displays. I didn’t get to see everything this weekend, but I’ll be back to check in on the rest of the festival.
The food comes with fresh from the garden ingredients, and look so yummy in the pictures. You can eat your way around the world showcase, just like the Food and Wine Festival, but with a different twist. I wish I could make some of the dishes that they have. The planning that goes into the food at the festival is also impressive. The chef’s mixing things up and planning menus has to take time and so much planning. I would imagine that they are already planning for next year. I would happily be a taste tester, if they needed volunteers.
Watching all the people this weekend reminds me how much the parks mean to people. As I listen to people talk about being there, where they are coming from, and how much they enjoyed their vacation, it makes me glad to have the option to visit as often as I can, now living in Florida. There are so many other things to do in the area, but Disney has to be my favorite. I enjoy Sea World, but have only one visit under my belt to Universal. The shopping is world class, and I have been able to get to some other attractions on International Drive. I look forward to doing more in the area but I always come back to Disney.
If you are cold, and needing a little green, The EPCOT Flower and Garden Festival is recommended. You can come for the flowers, the people, the food or the shows. It has something for everyone. Click Here for more info, but come if you can. Even with the crowds, it’s a great place to spend the day, or few days (if you want to see and experience everything). There is so much to do, and it can help you feel better, after a stressful work week or on vacation. For me, it’s a part of being happy for life.
