A tranquil seaside view with calm waters and a cloudy sky.

Have you ever written a letter to someone with whom you needed closure? Who do you think you would chose to send a letter? What do you need to say to them? Is it someone you want to thank, or someone with whom you need closure? Do you think a letter would be enough? Would there need to be a conversation to follow the letter?

Most of us have people that inspired us, and others that hurt us. Therapists often give letters as homework, to help process feelings, pain, and healing. Some things are hard to say face to face. At times, it’s better to write your feelings to help process them prior to having a face to face conversation. In a letter you can share feelings, thoughts, events, and so much more as you process.

Take some time and write a letter to someone that you need to share information. Write multiple drafts and process the emotions that come up when you write. As you process, know that your writing can help you heal. It’s all a part of being happy, for life.
