There are many ways to manage anxiety and depression. Coping skills become important as you learn ways to overcome events and move forward. There are so many different coping skills that it’s hard to list them all, and everyone’s skills are different. Food can be a coping skill. Reading can be a coping skill. Exercise, alcohol, and drugs can also be coping skills, but there are more.

Think about your coping skills.

  1. What skill do you use most?
  2. Is that skill helping you, or hurting you, and how?
  3. Are there skills you would like to try?

As you think about your coping skills, write about them. Determine what works for you and what does not. Do you need more skills or do you need to change them to be more healthy? I would encourage you to search for coping skills on the Internet. There are many sites that have lists of them. I was going to include one, but there are too many to list. If you need ideas, there are many out there. Find ones that are healthy and will help on your journey.
