For today, let’s think about things that hold us back from success. We all have many things and beliefs that hold us back from either becoming who we want to be, or challenge our ability to move forward. Sometimes a part of therapy is challenging our core beliefs. Emotional abuse can set up negative self-talk that keeps people from becoming successful.

While growing up, did you ever hear that you couldn’t do something? Were you ever bullied or abused by others in a way that made you feel small? Has a partner ever told you that you would not be happy without them?

There are so many ways that we hear and internalize negative messages. Being able to manage those messages becomes important as we strive for happiness. Understanding the things that hold us back is important as we work toward being happy, for life.
