After watching the documentary about Gene Wilder, the above quote struck me. He talked more about an event in the movie, including making reference to walking to the right of a fountain or the left of a fountain. There are so many times when the path we take can make such a difference. I look back and think about the choices I made, and didn’t make. I think about the loves I lost, and the risks I didn’t take. I think about staying in my comfort zone, and other times when I took a chance and stepped away. Sometimes things work out, and sometimes they don’t. Sometimes we regret the choices and sometimes we regret not making the choice.
As I watched the documentary, I thought about the risks and chances he took. I appreciated listening to events in his wife. How he overcame loss, and how he found love. he is not the only person who had shared experiences, but his talk about taking a path that can change your life was meaningful to me.
After finishing the show, I thought about the path that I walk. I thought about me family and the patients I have supported as they evaluate their path. I don’t think we are always on the right path, but I also know there is always a fork in the path that could lead us to a better journey. One that is not so dark, with more sun, and even more fun. Traveling though the dark woods can lead to dark thinking. Changing your path can help you remember that there is light.
Don’t forget that that there is always another path. I won’t pretend that changing you path will be easy, but I know that changing your path could make things easier. We need to evaluate out path, and make changes in direction if needed. That’s all part of being happy, for life.
