Maggie returned to her apartment, and job, and tried to decide what normal was going to become for her. She continued to think about the future, knowing that she had decisions to make.

On the day of her divorce, she went to the courthouse to sign the papers. Her parents came with her for support. Ben’s attorney was present, but he was not. She was sad that he didn’t come, but his absence made things a bit easier. She walked out of the courtroom with the papers, not knowing what to do next.

After a quick dinner with her parents, she said goodbye and headed back to her apartment. She read through the papers again and fell asleep next to them, tears in her eyes.

The next few weeks passed quickly. Maggie decided that it was time to leave her apartment. She was planning to move in with a friend for a while, so she had time to decide what came next. She was planning to store her things at her parent’s home. She just needed time to find her balance.

One evening, as Maggie sat in her almost empty apartment, a postcard slipped out from between the pages of a book she was packing away. It was a postcard from Paris, sent by her best friend from college during one of her trips abroad. The Eiffel Tower loomed in the background, the words “Wish you were here!” scrawled across it in familiar handwriting.

Maggie picked up the postcard and felt a spark of inspiration within her. Paris had always been a dream destination for her, a place she longed to explore but never had the chance to visit. Perhaps now was the time to make that dream a reality.

With newfound determination, Maggie began researching jobs, overseas, in Europe. She still had doubts and fears lingering in the back of her mind, but the thought of embarking on this kind of adventure filled her with a sense of excitement she hadn’t felt in a long time.

Despite the uncertainty looming over her, Maggie felt a flicker of determination ignite within her. As she started to research living overseas, she made a firm decision. It was time to spread her wings and consider what was possible. With newfound resolve, she was ready to embark on a journey of self-discovery and reinvention.

The next few weeks were a whirlwind of change for Maggie. She applied for jobs overseas and eventually got something that would bring her to Paris. She was learning French, and working with her new employer around details of her move. The friend she was living with helped her stay excited and focused. Her parents were worried about her but encouraged her to enjoy the adventure.

She landed in Paris, ready to take on the world. She settled into her new flat, and her job with ease. With each passing day, Maggie delved into new experiences and opportunities that came her way. She found solace in exploring art galleries and quirky cafes, embracing the vibrant energy of her surroundings. Slowly but surely, she started to shed the remnants of her past self and embrace the woman she was becoming.

One crisp autumn morning, as Maggie sipped on a steaming cup of coffee in a cozy café, she realized that she was no longer defined by the heartbreak of her failed marriage. Her journey of self-discovery had led her to unearth passions and desires she never knew existed within her. She was where she needed to be, and happy for the opportunity.
