Jesse was fuming when he walked out of the house and slammed the door. He was so stressed about bills that he didn’t know what to do.

He had been laid off from his job recently, and didn’t have a lot of options for another. His company was prone to slow spells, but there hadn’t been one in a while. This lay off came out of the blue.

Jesse had been laid off before, when he was married to his first wife. She didn’t work and collecting unemployment wasn’t enough to pay the bills. Jesse wanted his ex to get a job and help, but she refused.

It was the beginning of the end of thier marriage. Jesse ended up back to work the following month, but thier relationship never recovered from the conflict. They were divorced the year after.

Jesse was scared that this would be the end of his marriage with Sarah. He couldn’t lose her. He loved her.

Jesse started driving to try to clear his head. He needed to be able to provide for his family. Sarah and her kids deserved a stable home. Jesse thought about his son. He wanted to be a role model for him, and a good role model has a job.

Jesse thought about how long he was without a job the last time. He had been without a job this time for about 2 weeks, and it was already weighing on him.

Jesse knew that he and Sarah had enough saved to keep them going for about a month. He wanted to get back to work, and he was looking for something, but there was little available.

With the recent layoffs, there were lots of others also looking. He could collect unemployment, but that wouldn’t be enough to keep the bills paid for long.

Jesse thought about how hopeless he felt, and how he stormed out of the house. He didn’t know what to do, but he knew that leaving like he did wasn’t a great idea.

When his first marriage ended, he was angry with his ex-wife. He wanted to tell her just how angry, but never did. He stormed out of the house on her as well, and she never let him forget it.

Jesse knew that Sarah would have left for work, and he wanted to have a plan. He returned home and found it empty.

Jesse sat down at the kitchen table and looked at their finances. He made arrangements to pay the electric bill and looked at other bills waiting to be paid. He moved money from savings to get them paid.

After taking care of the bills, he started thinking about his job search. He looked up new postings for jobs in the area and found a couple where he could apply. He completed his application, sent it in, and hoped for the best.

Jesse couldn’t lose Sarah. He thought about what he would say to her when she got home. He didn’t know the words but he knew he had to start with an apology.

Come back next week for the rest of the story.
